Coffee-break Conversations: Where do we stand?

Tuesday, April 29th, 2008

In the last year or so, there have been numerous project management/collaboration applications sprout up on the Internet. So, last evening we took some time off and started to brainstorm as to where does DeskAway fits in. Here is what we have come up with. DeskAway’s simplicity, rich feature-set and low prices automatically positions itself in-between the simple and complex (priced at per user per month) project management software.

Knowing where you stand is amazing - it brings a level of confidence, clarity and a new meaning to what you are doing!

Associating a team member with a company name is easy - just edit the person from the main Team tab and select ‘No’ for “Is this person a part of ‘YourCompanyName‘? Enter the company name of this person in the text box that shows up.

The above drop-down is seen in Milestones, Issues, Tasks, Project Leads, Time Sheet etc.

DeskAway Help Page

We have added a Help page (see the link on the top right corner of the page) to the website. It includes
- updated FAQ’s
- video tutorials of different sections of DeskAway
- online customer service powered by Get Satisfaction
- a way for you’ll to email us privately

Why Get Satisfaction?
Get Satisfaction is a neat little app. for customer service. Click here to check it out and see how you can ask support questions, share ideas, and join in conversations. One of us will always be there to answer your questions.

We chose Get Satisfaction because:
1. The interface is really cool.
2. We believe in Software as a service - instead of hosting and running a forum script on our server, why not use their service.
3. Forums are old. Communities are new.
4. Who knows, you might find other products that you use out there - like a one-stop shop for your customer service needs.

The Younger Generation

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Here is an interesting article on the connection between ‘young workers’ or ‘millennials’ and web2.0 apps in the enterprise. Do they really break the rules? Not quite, though they can give some valuable feedback and assessments of the web 2.0 tools that they try out over the cloud! These guys know whats good and whats bad, how to navigate a site and what makes one app better than the rest. IT decisions are going to be moved from the IT Dept. (whatever that is) to the end consumer in the enterprise. Every web software company will need to cater to the end consumer rather than the enterprise!
