Time to remove a few small features…
Just like we add new features every month, we are also keeping an eye on the ones that need to be removed and phased out. This will keep the app fresh and the user experience smooth. These are features that are rarely used or are outdated (and there is an alternative way). On Tuesday, Dec. 15th we will be phasing out the following small features.
View pending tasks link under Project Tab
We built this about 2 years ago and it still has the old interface. A better way to keep track of your pending tasks would be to either check out the Overdue section on your Dashboard or setup a daily email reminder that will email you your overdue projects/ milestones/ tasks and issues.

Team Departments
This feature just never made it. Even though you make a team department and link up a contact, you really can’t segregate people by departments. We plan to take this up in a more powerful way in 2010. Your contacts that you added to departments will now become your Personal contacts.

Project Listing Page - Pending Links
The separate pending task and issue link at the bottom of the Project (boxed in yellow) will be removed for 2 reasons:
1. Even though it tells you the number of pending tasks it takes you to the Task List page that also can be accessed from the icons on right top corner of the individual project listing (boxed in green).
2. We noticed that fetching this data was slowing down the Project Listing page for people who had a lot of projects (over a hundred in some cases).

I’m very disappointed with these features you are going to remove. I don’t know how you have evaluated the no-use of them, but in our case we use a lot the “view my pendding tasks” option. We like to see, not only the overdue work, much better we try to see the pending tasks before they get to the due date.
I would like to take this opportunity to tell you that we have requested some new features and we didn’t get any of them. For exemple a feature that would let me see the tasks assigned to a team member and that is still pending. This wold be usefull in order to know the charge of a person before I asing more tasks to him/her.
Best regards,
Roger.

You can see the pending tasks (overdue, approaching and without deadline) in the My Task section on the leftside of the Dashboard. You can also see Tasks you have been CC’ed to and those that you have Delegated, just like ‘View My Pending Tasks’ section. So you can still view the pending tasks before they get to the due date, (Project wise and Task List wise) only now from a different location.
You can see the tasks that are pending for another team member by going to the Team tab > Click on the user name > View Detailed Report will show you all pending, overdue, done tasks project wise and user wise. This feature is already available on DeskAway, is it what you are looking for?
Thanks for commenting!

We have not removed the “view my pending tasks” option, due to your request!

I think not removing “View my pending tasks” is a sound decision…

Thanks for reconsidering this point. Although we have started to use the option you recomend and we are seeing that is very usefull we appreciate that you don’t remove the “view my pending tasks” option.

and if you make it possible to upload an image to an issue what we’re waiting on for months were also happy!

I agree that removing some of these features is not a good thing. If the server utilization is an issue - then upgrade the hardware and make more resources available to it.
The pending tasks on the project page is a GREAT way to get a snapshot of where each project is. Especially if you have multiple projects that are following the same project plan.
I would like to get this functionality included back into deskaway.
