SaaS is the way forward for software…

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

smarttecheSaaS is growing rapidly in the Asia Pacific region and April’s 2010 issue of SmartTechie carries a mention of DeskAway and a quote from me when talking about SaaS in India. We are happy to be here at the right time. This is going to be the way forward for all software.

Gartner saw it as the one bright spot during recession. Traditional software is slowly but steadily making way for it. And India is estimated to register a 60 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) in it from 2008 to 2012 according to Springboard Research. Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) has taken the IT world by storm and experts say this is just the beginning.

nascomm-featuring-deskaway

We have come a long way since 2005. From moving back to India to start a product company to being obsessed about leading the SaaS revolution here, today, we take pride in getting featured on Nasscom Emerge (an organization that represents the IT Industry here) as a ‘Made in India’ global product company. The interview was conducted very professionally over the phone. Here is an exerpt of my Interview with Nasscom…

Success quotient
“Success for us has come from a bunch of things,” details Parikh. “Right timing – we got a head start and now a lot of companies are jumping onto the SaaS bandwagon; a dedicated and talented team of 4-5 people that has been with us from the beginning; and the importance that we as a company give to design and user interface. In fact, a lot of our clients do not believe that we are an Indian company, given the clean and sleek look of our product.”

DeskAway Reviewed on Techettes

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

We noticed that Techettes was reviewing project management tools and so we got in touch with them to see if they would be willing to do a review of DeskAway for their blog readers. Today, Meaghan from Techettes emailed me to let me know that the review was up…

You can’t wait to get on the road again, hopping from client meeting to seminar to conference to board meeting with ease. Business trips to Berlin, meetings in Madrid, client calls in California… it’s fun to be a jetsetter but every so often it’s hard to be away from your desk, collaborating with your coworkers and chatting around the water cooler.

Fortunately, in our digital age, even when you’re away from your desk you can take part in the important projects, day to day work and office chatter that you’re missing while you’re out of your normal workspace or working with someone outside the office.

Thanks Meaghan and the Techettes team!

Superchooha saves 48 minutes per team member per day…

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

Superchooha is a Social Business Communications firm from Mumbai, India. What that means is that we use social media to engage customers with brands, and teams within the organisation for efficient business operations.

We believe in spreading social everywhere on the web. Things on the social web change every second, in real time, and so do requirements of our projects. It was all fine when we had just started with a two person team but things got real ugly now that we have expanded, handling clients like ICICI Prudential and Idea Cellular with colossal frequencies of user touchpoints.

Information and tasks assigned used to get lost in mails, we had tons of papers on the notice board to remind us of stuff. Things were never seamless. We finalized on DeskAway after a lot of test runs with Basecamp and such, and it was worth it. We are actually saving around 48 minutes per day per member now. Things get done on time. We know who is accountable for certain task, who is working efficiently etc. We can assign tasks seamlessly via mails. In addition, we can easily work from home if need arises.

In short, it’s been a lifesaver :)
