Product Update: Small Fixes

Wednesday, August 18th, 2010

A couple of small fixes…

Fixed: Blank Milestone Showing Overdue:
Milestones which had no tasks and issues but having deadline (which had passed) were showing under the ‘Overdue’ section. Technically, the Milestone should not show up as Overdue since it does not have any work under it. This confused some of you and hence we applied a simple fix. Now, it will show up under the On going section of the Milestone page.

Fixed: Live LinksLinks under Task List and Task Description
Add any URL while creating a task list or a task and that should be automatically be converted to a link. Clicking on the link will open up the page in a new window.

Time Management and Productivity

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Just came across this interesting article at Terry Starbucker’s blog, on productivity and how to make best use of our time. He has also noted down a few points that should help us with prioritizing our actions.

In any day there are probably hundreds, if not thousands, of actions you can take.   Which ones you choose are critical to living a productive life, or being the most productive person at the office.

It’s the art of constant prioritization – a mental “to do” list that goes through a special kind of algorithm, a kind that only a properly focused  human brain can pull off. Read More.

This is something that all of us face on a personal as well as business front in life. At DeskAway we have a slew of to-do’s. Be it new feature requests, fixing bugs, revamping sections and a whole lot more.

Some things we keep in mind are,

  1. KISS: Keep it Simple, and thats what we always attempt.
  2. Customer Insight: What does the customer really want and what would add most value to him/her?

What do you do to manage your time well doing the RIGHT activity?

New Feature – Task Calender View

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

DeskAway has just added a new task calendar feature. So if there’s loads of tasks in your project and you wish to have a consolidated view of the task within a project along with their respective deadlines, just click on the small icon next to the Task list page heading and you will see a new calendar pop up and guide you through all the tasks and their deadlines.

Did you know ? Tasks can be moved to another Task List

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

Tasks can be easily moved from one Task List to another provided they are in the same project.

1. Navigate to the “Task List” page

2. Click on a Task that you want to move to another Task List.
3. Click on the “Move” link

4. A drop-down will appear listing all your existing Task Lists.
5. Select the Task List that you would want to move this Task to.

That’s it! The task will be moved immediately. This is great for doing a brain-dump first (getting all tasks under 1 Task List) and then moving things around after you figured out how you are going to categorize the Tasks.
